Happy New Year’s Eve! Here we are, on the brink of a New Year, and there is something about it that just exudes a clean slate and new beginnings. It’s the 2nd year in a row that I am sitting in my athleisure wear – I may have worn the same top last year – finishing up some work and drinking bubbly. The only difference is something I will mention momentarily. I am kicking off this blog post by calling it my “2021 Year In Review.”
New Year’s is not one of my favorite days. Sure, is getting dressed up to go out sound enticing, absolutely, but not amongst masks and mandates. I have always felt that there is so much hype, build-up, and expectations on this night, almost how it feels on your Birthday. Plus, when you have to get up early tomorrow morning to work, the thought of being up until midnight, and beyond, can feel a little daunting.
Anyway, enough about my “so-so” feelings about this day; while tomorrow is January – eek – it’s a brand new year to be a better version of your current self and do some really great things! It’s also a day to reflect on everything from this past year. Here is a peek at my 2021 year in review:
- Although Covid was (and is) still very much part of our lives, the ability to travel was, once again, on the docket and I spent some time in Denver, the Outer Banks, and St. Maarten.
- In April, I moved into my new place and, while I would love to say that I am there a LOT, it has been really nice to have a space I have been able to make mine, decorating and all.
- 2021 did bring along some heart break; my grandmother in Canada passed away in January and my grandfather lost his 4 year battle to stomach cancer in October. It is still hard to believe, and I miss them like crazy every single day!
- This year was a turning point in my professional career. I had to check my pride at the door and start taking steps towards regaining financial stability. I love co-owning my businesses but a steady income has been few and far between. More in this to come in 2022.
- I am beyond blessed to have a family who continues to support and motivate me to be my absolute best! They have been my rock and are my everything!
- Finally, one of the biggest highlights and blessings in my life this year has been meeting Matt, my boyfriend of 8 months. He is the one who I am sitting here with, on New Year’s Eve, drinking champagne, and just being us. Athleisure, no makeup, and talking about the amazing things 2022 is going to bring.
2021 – you had you highs and lows and, yes, it is life, but I am ready to start anew and hit the ground running in 2022!
From my family to yours, I wish you a very Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!
xoxo
