My Next Chapter

Next-Chapter

Good Monday Afternoon, and another dreary one from Baltimore. Ugh. Grr. I am beginning to think we are in nothing but a rainy, gloomy holding pattern. I was talking with a friend today over coffee and we were both saying that this is just plain blah. Beyond the weather, I did get my vaccine yesterday – the one and done Johnson & Johnson – and, well, I woke up this morning feeling like I had the worst hangover EVER, on top of the flu, on top of sinus infection. Luckily I took some meds and have felt so much better, although this dull, nagging headache has been quite the annoyance today. I think a lot of this was amped up from the weekend too! It was exhausting, exciting, a bit stressful, and a long time coming. Yes, my next chapter has arrived, and I am filled with so many emotions.

On Saturday, I got the keys to my brand new place. A chic “flat” – I love saying that rather than apartment – that is a 2 bedroom with 2 walk in closets, 2 full bathrooms, 2 Juliette balconies and 1 “large” (hey, you can fit a table & chairs) balcony, a fabulous entertaining space, and a few other bells and whistles. Don’t worry, a washer and dryer included. It is the perfect space for me to being my next chapter, and to continue building the “Janine Serio” brand. On a side note, the “official” move will not happen until the beginning of May.

As I mentioned, I have been emotional about all of it. Deep down, I don’t love change. Yes, there is some change that I love but others that make me feel sad, nervous, stressed, and even scared.

I told my Mom over the weekend that while all of this is very exciting (the decorating has me in my element), I don’t want to feel alone. My Mom assured me that nothing is going to change; in fact, it is going to change in an even better way.

And I, truly, believe it. For these next few weeks, though, I will allow myself to feel “all the feels” when it comes to my next chapter and know that it’s okay to be nervous, excited, scared, etc. It’s all part of the process, and one that is going to make me a stronger woman in the long run too.

Oh, and someone who will be throwing kick ass get togethers moving forward. Don’t worry, I will do so safely.

Here’s to a wonderful week, living your best life, doing so in style, and having an amazing next chapter.

xoxo
