I am a little embarrassed about this post today. Here I am talking about my latest trip and I have, totally, skimped on photos. I guess this means I will have to go back! Last Saturday while in Denver, we had a fun morning of dining at a local breakfast spot (close to my sister and brother-in-laws new place) and then went for a couple hours of touring Red Rocks. The next time you are in the Denver area, and have some extra time, I highly recommend checking it out; whether it is for a socially distant concert, hike or bike, or a hardcore workout, it is MUST to see. For the record, yes, I was feeling very out of shape, and it was not because of the altitude change, ha!
Touring Red Rocks is an amazing outing to do solo, with a significant other, or even family (like I did). Plus, when the weather was as gorgeous as it was during our visit, then it is an added bonus. In 2015, this 738 acre state park wonderland received National Historic Landmark status.
This spectacular landscape and terrain is where the Rocky Mountains and Great Plains meet at 6,450 feet above sea level, and the various rock formations will just make you stare in awe. I mean, some tilt backwards, slope 90 degrees, and some replicate that of various objects.
If only the Amphitheater could talk! Did you know it has been touted as one of the “Seven Wonders of the World?” It is said that it is the only Amphitheater in the world that has the perfect acoustics and is a geographical spectacle. Some amazing artists have walked the stage and have been entertaining fans and groupies for close to 80 years (the theatre’s 80th Anniversary will be on June 16, 2021).
While it is only seating 2500 for their 2021 Outdoor Concert Series (and currently under construction), it hold upwards of 10,000 fans. What is even crazier is from the stage, to the top row, there is an elevation difference of 100 feet. (and not quite where I am standing). Errrmmyygooshh!
Now I am even more impressed by those individuals doing stair jumps and push-ups starting at the bottom and working their way up to the top! P.S. Apparently, they offer fitness classes too, although nothing is currently scheduled.
For more information on all that you can see & do, as well as gain more insight on its history (it’s out of my wheelhouse to start talking about how the color of the rocks came to fruition), check out the official website for all the details (and a huge thank you for giving me resources to share)!
Okay, maybe I did not do as bad of a job with snapping photos. Next time though! Until then, you can shop the very outfit I wore while touring Red Rocks. Because you have to stay stylish…you never know who you may see, right?
